Our Maternity Assessment Unit has 12 rooms including a triage (or evaluation) room. Your medical condition will be assessed. Sometimes it’s time for your little one to arrive and you’re admitted to the hospital for your labor. Sometimes patients return home.
Labor and Delivery Room (Birthing Tub available for water births)
Our Labor & Delivery area supports cesarean, vaginal and water birth processes. We’ve created additional space for your birthing partner to be by your side, and we’ve adjusted our model of care to ensure your care team remains the same throughout your delivery journey.
Natural light bathes each room and vibrant colors help differentiate the floors and assist with wayfinding. “At Your Service” food options are available when you or your partner want it delivered.
Based on input from former patients, our amenities include improved sleeping options for your designated support person and fewer interruptions thanks to pass-through cabinets for food trays and linens.
While you’re recovering in our Mother Baby Unit, maternity nurses will help you feel confident bathing, changing, soothing and feeding your baby. Skin-to-skin contact is encouraged for its medical benefits for both mom and baby.
We know not every pregnancy goes as planned. That’s why Cone Health offers a Level 3 NICU for babies who arrive early and need intensive care. Our expanded neonatal intensive care unit offers 45 private rooms, ensuring babies have their own space and their families have private baths and overnight accommodation options.
We are one of the first hospitals in North Carolina offering couplet care (pictured) where mom and her medically fragile infant can recover in the same room.
Our Milk Lab features infant nutrition technicians who mix diet-specific meals for our tiniest arrivals to get the nutrients needed for a strong start.
For expectant moms who need extra care leading up to their delivery, our beautiful OB Specialty Care rooms are spacious and strategically placed close to needed equipment and resources.
