Angelo Sinopoli, MD
Executive Vice President, Value-Based Care Institute
Angelo Sinopoli, MD, Cone Health Executive Vice President of the Value-Based Care Institute, builds on Cone Health’s reputation as a national leader in value-based care by ensuring it is integrated throughout the organization.
Value-based care is a payment system where health care providers get paid a set amount of money to care for a group of patients. If the care is less than the set amount, the health care providers keep the difference. If more is spent on care, the providers lose money. This improves the health of populations by shifting the focus to preventing illness, which is more expensive to treat.
Sinopoli came to Cone Health in 2024 from UpStream, where he served as chief network officer. Sinopoli’s background includes expertise in Medicare Value-Based programs as well as Medicaid, commercial and direct to employer models. Sinopoli also has in-depth experience with care model design and population health.
Prior to UpStream, Sinopoli served as the chief clinical officer for Prisma Health, a $5 billion dollar health system where he developed and managed a 5,000-provider network. He also founded and managed the Care Coordination Institute, an enablement company for integrated delivery systems.
Sinopoli earned his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
Sinopoli is a member of the Physician-focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and serves as a member of the Executive Forum of the Healthcare Payment Learning and Action Network.
