Brian Boies, MD, MBA
Chief Academic Officer
Dr. Brian Boies is senior vice president and chief academic officer for Cone Health.
In his capacity as chief academic officer, Boies oversees Cone Health's academic medical programs. These include medical education, residency programs and research. These programs play a crucial role in training the next generation of health care professionals, advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care.
Boies came to Cone Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He was vice chair of education in the department of Anesthesiology and assistant dean of education and innovation in the office of Graduate Medical Education.
Boies earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in bioengineering from Rice University. He obtained his Master of Business Administration from UT San Antonio. His medical training includes a residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in pain medicine at UT Health San Antonio. Boies is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician.
Boies is a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists – the society’s highest designation – representing a commitment to patient care and education. He serves as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology, as well as a question writer for the pain medicine examination.
