Danielle Mahaffey, MD

Danielle Mahaffey, MD, serves as chief medical officer for Cone Health facilities in Alamance and Rockingham counties. She provides leadership and is responsible for setting the conditions for the continuous improvement of excellent patient care. Mahaffey is a member of the regional executive team.
Mahaffey came to Cone Health in 2020 from Appalachian Regional Healthcare System in Boone. She served there as the chief physician executive.
Mahaffey earned a Master of Medical Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University and her medical degree at the Indiana University of Medicine. She was a family medicine resident and completed a sports medicine fellowship at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
She served on the board of directors of the Mountain Area Health Education Center (2019-2022) and on the North Carolina Medical Society Board of Directors (2018-2021.)
