The Cone Health Nursing Research Council invites you to submit an abstract for presentation at the 2024 Research and Evidence Based Practice/QI Symposium on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Please read all rules and requirements prior to submitting your abstract. Abstract submissions cannot be saved in progress. Please be prepared to complete your abstract submission in its entirety.
Submission Deadline: Friday, July 10, 2024, by 11:59 p.m.
Abstract Submission Categories
Abstracts will be accepted for podium, panel, and/or poster presentations in the following categories:
- Research (featuring completed research)
- Evidence-Based Practice
- Quality Improvement
Abstracts are sought from nurses and other healthcare disciplines in all practice and specialty areas including clinical, leadership, educational and innovation. Students are also invited to submit abstracts.
Guidelines for Abstract Submission
Please read the following completely before you submit an abstract:
- All abstracts must be submitted online via the link titled “Submit an Abstract” at the bottom of this page. We recommend typing abstract in word document and pasting into the submission form.
- Submission deadline is Friday, July 10, 2024, by 11:59 p.m. No abstracts will be accepted after the deadline.
- Your abstract narrative cannot exceed 350 words.
- The review of abstracts is blinded; please avoid the use of identifiers. For example, please use pronouns or titles vs actual health care provider names, locations, etc.
- Abstracts for posters, podiums and panels that have been presented at other conferences will be considered.
- You MUST use the recommended format and headers for your abstract submission to be considered (see information below).
- If you need assistance writing your abstract, help is available prior to June 7. Email jessica.buckner@conehealth.com to get set up for an abstract writing session prior to June 7.
- It is desirable that your study be completed prior to abstract submission; however, if pending outcomes will be completed prior to the symposium, it is permissible to submit the abstract for consideration.
Abstract Authors
- Communications about submitted abstracts will only be made with the first author.
- Presenters must register and pay the registration fee. If the presenter is unable to attend the conference, one of the other listed presenters should be present. If your abstract is accepted for presentation (oral or poster), the primary presenter will receive a $25 discount off of his or her registration.
Poster Instructions
- Title of Abstract should remain the same on the Poster Presentation. Do not change title.
- Cone Health employees accepted for a poster presentation, must use the Cone Health poster format and complete the internal poster review process (see Nursing Research Council Website and click ‘Poster Presentations’).
- Cone Health employees should click here for additional specific poster review instructions.
Abstract Review / Selection Criteria
Abstracts are selected by a blind review from an impartial panel and are considered according to the following:
- Correct headers should be used (See below: Abstract Format). Aims/Objectives should align with Methods and Results. Conclusions should be supported by the results of the project.
- Abstracts are selected based on relevance to current practice, originality of topic, application to practice, and scholarship.
- Avoid the use of personal identifiers.
Abstract Format
Word Limit is 350
Background/Significance: Describe the overall background information to address the topic of your project.
Purpose/Objectives: State the intent or goals of the project.
Methods: Give an overall synopsis of how the project was conducted, included subjects, tools, and timeline.
Results: Describe actual findings specific to your objectives and include data if present.
Conclusions: Analyze and interpret your results. Draw conclusions from the data presented.
Implications for Practice: Discuss the implications of your findings for nursing science, patient outcomes, practice, education, and leadership. What’s next?
Notification of Acceptance/Poster Presenter Information
- Notification of selections will be emailed to the primary presenter by Monday, July 22.
- The title of the abstract should remain the same for your poster. Do not change title from abstract to poster.
- Poster presenters are responsible for printing and bringing their own posters to the conference. Details on poster size will be sent to poster presenters after acceptance.
- Submitters accepted for a poster presentation will need to submit a final .pdf of their poster by October 11, 2024 (more information will be sent via email).
- Cone Health employees accepted for a poster presentation, must use the Cone Health poster format and complete the internal poster review process (see Nursing Research Council Website and click ‘Poster Presentations’). Click here for more information.
- You will receive emails from Greensboro AHEC about registration. Registration and educational forms will be available on the Greensboro AHEC website (www.gahec.org).
