Internal Medicine Residency Program Curriculum
First Year Residency
During the intern year, residents are introduced to both inpatient and outpatient medicine. Interns will work on the inpatient wards for 4-5 months as well as have 1 month of night float and 1 month of emergency medicine.
Most residents will also participate in a month of ICU. For outpatient, interns will be in our clinic for 3 dedicated months, along with ½ day of clinic during electives. The rest of the time is dedicated to vacation and electives.

Second Year Residency
During the second foundational year, residents will serve as a leader on our inpatient teams for up to 3 months. They will also get the opportunity to assist an intern on night float. During this year, residents again have 3 months in the clinic. Finally, the residents will start leading a team in a quality improvement initiative during this year. Residents will again have vacation and electives as well.

Third Year Residency
During this capstone year, residents will participate in the Bridge/Covering resident rotation. This role includes seeing admissions in the ED and covering for colleagues who are having their day off. It is structured to prepare residents for autonomous work in the hospital and is a popular rotation. Residents will again work in the ICU and on night float. 3 months are spent in the clinic, and elective rotations encompass 5 months of their time in the program.
