- The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services' FIND MY TESTING PLACE website is a great resource for finding testing locations in your area and across the state.
COVID At-Home Test Kits
COVID-19 Tests Reimbursed by Private Insurance
- As of January 15, private insurers are required by the Biden administration to cover the cost of up to eight at-home rapid tests per month, per insured person.
- People seeking to take that option can buy the tests themselves, then seek reimbursement from their insurance provider.
Pre-Admission Testing for Surgery, Medical Procedures, or Hospital Admission
- As of 08/01/2022 testing services will be done by a 3rd party contractor, Aurora Labs.
- Patients with questions should contact the provider that scheduled their procedure.

Health at Work Testing for Cone Health Employees
- As of 08/01/2022 testing services will move from Health at Work to a 3rd party contractor, Aurora Labs.

COVID-19 Retesting
If you had a COVID-19 test with a negative result (COVID not detected):
- We recommend no further testing or retesting for 14 days from the date of the original test.
- If you feel you need a COVID-19 retest, contact your primary care provider or complete a MyChart e-Visit for COVID-19 screening.
If you had a COVID-19 test with a positive result (COVID detected):
- We recommend no further testing or retesting for 90 days from the date of the original test.
- If you feel you need a COVID-19 retest, contact your primary care provider or complete a MyChart e-Visit for COVID-19 screening.
If you have a primary care provider that is outside of Cone Health and you feel like you need retesting prior to the time spans listed above, please visit your provider to be evaluated and have your provider write you a prescription and bring the prescription to the COVID-19 test site.
