Services
Our highly trained team of emergency medicine personnel is on call 24/7, ready to provide immediate care for sick and injured residents of Rockingham and surrounding counties.
In addition to emergency services, the department’s 5-bed Fast Track unit offers treatment for less severe conditions such as stitches, broken bones, sore throat, flu and minor injuries.
Whatever the illness or injury, we’ll give every emergency room patient the time, attention and expert care they deserve.
Certified for Emergency Stroke Care. Committed to Serving Our Community.
Certain medical situations demand extra-fast response and advanced skills. The Annie Penn Emergency Department, together with the hospital’s staff of physicians and specialists, gives our community access to services not usually available in communities our size.
Annie Penn Hospital has the first Emergency Department in North Carolina to be designated as a Certified Stroke Ready Facility. This certification means our treatment drastically minimizes the response time and, ultimately, the lasting effects of a stroke. Specialized centers like ours have the people and technology to treat serious accidents and injuries.
We hope you and your loved ones never face a medical emergency. But if you do, rest assured that the Annie Penn Emergency Department is here for you.

Please understand that as an Emergency Department, we must see patients in order of how serious their condition is or may become. It’s our goal for all of our patients to receive the same excellent care, but we must attend to the most critical patients first. So, thanks for your patience. It helps us save lives.
