Jennifer Leach Named Vice President, Managed Care at Cone Health

Leach brings her legal and executive expertise to developing the system’s commercial, government, and employer health insurance contacts.

Greensboro – Jennifer Leach joins Cone Health as vice president, managed care. She is charged with advising and advocating for Cone Health’s consumers and team members when it comes to health insurance. This includes the negotiation and administration of managed care contracts, which exceed $1.4 billion in Cone Health revenue.

The vice president of managed care implements strategy and advocates for the best value-base care for consumers. Value-based care is a framework driven to improve quality and outcomes for patients. One of Leach’s first priorities is to, “look for opportunities to simplify and align programs in order to scale them for maximum impact for the entire community,” she says. Agile, innovative thinking are the hallmarks of leadership skills sought for in this role.

Leach has more than 20 years of experience. She has worked for both insurance companies and health systems coming to Cone Health from Inova Health System in Falls Church, Virginia. Cone Health Chief Financial Officer Andy Barrow, comments, “Jennifer’s background as a lawyer combined with extensive experience negotiating health insurance contacts makes her an ideal fit at Cone Health. Our goal is to be rewarded for keeping people well and out of the hospital. Jennifer will be important to that strategy.”

Leach received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Miami and earned her J.D. from the University of Houston. Jennifer also holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
