Nelms Leads Billing at Cone Health
The new vice president has experience in health care and the health insurance worlds.
Greensboro – Jason Nelms is the new vice president of revenue cycle at Cone Health. Nelms provides leadership and expertise for the team that tackles billing and payments—and the array of issues connected with them. Those issues include price transparency, improving the patient experience, processing payments and working through claims denials.

Cone Health has $2.5 billion in revenue from providing health care through hundreds of thousands of patient encounters. Nelms’ team partners with operations, information technology and others.
“I look forward to supplementing our high-performing team with innovative technology such as machine learning and robotic process automation to improve efficiencies and performance, resulting in industry leading metrics,” Nelms explains. “Ultimately, the improvements will have a direct and meaningful impact on our patients, teammates and the community.”
Nelms comes to Cone Health from Atrium Health in Charlotte where he was the assistant vice president, patient financial services. He also has experience on the payer side as director of payer contracting with Cigna Healthcare.

Nelms is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and holds a Master of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University. He serves as secretary of the North Carolina chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, where he has been active in various statewide initiatives for 18 years.
