Greensboro – Dr. Danielle Mahaffey is the new chief medical officer at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. She will provide leadership, direction and planning to the medical staff and will be a critical member of the hospital executive team.
Doctors, nurse practitioners and others are at the center of care provided to patients. Mahaffey will work with the hospital’s providers as they constantly improve the quality and safety of care patients receive, as well as the experience patients have at Alamance Regional.
Dr. Danielle Mahaffey
Mahaffey comes to Alamance Regional from Appalachian Regional Healthcare System in Boone. She was the chief physician executive and was instrumental in that organization’s COVID response. But her career really began as resident in the family medicine program at The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital from 1996-1999. “I have always respected the physicians that I learned from, and then practiced with and referred to during those years,” says Mahaffey. “I have also been impressed with the standards of quality that Cone Health holds to and the focus on patient care.”
Mahaffey earned a Master of Medical Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University and her medical degree at the Indiana University of Medicine. She also completed a sports medicine fellowship at Moses Cone Hospital.
“Moving back feels like coming home for my husband and me. Both of my daughters were born at the old Women's Hospital,” adds Mahaffey. “I am really excited for this new opportunity which affords both serving and learning more about Alamance Regional and the Alamance community, but also allows me to reconnect with the larger organization and individuals that helped start my professional journey.”
