Boies to Lead Education and Research at Cone Health

Cone Health is home to 60 residents participating in residency programs, with research grants totaling over $26 million.

 

GREENSBORO — Dr. Brian Boies has been named senior vice president and chief academic officer at Cone Health.

In his capacity as chief academic officer, Boies will oversee and enhance Cone Health's academic medical programs. These include medical education, residency programs and research. These programs play a crucial role in training the next generation of health care professionals, advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care.

Boies will identify and pursue opportunities to establish new academic medical programs and departments. Driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and technology, these efforts will maximize the impact of academic, educational, and research programs across Cone Health and into surrounding communities. 

Boies previously worked at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He was vice chair of education and assistant dean of education and innovation. Boies made significant contributions to the training of over 200 anesthesiology residents, oral maxillofacial surgery residents, and nearly 50 pain medicine fellows. His accolades include receiving numerous leadership awards, and publishing multiple works that provide valuable insights to the medical community.

Boies earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in bioengineering from Rice University. His medical training includes a residency in anesthesiology at UT Health San Antonio. Boies is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician.
