Cone Health Scores with ZooCity Sportsplex

The health care leader and the City of Asheboro team up to advance health and wellness in Randolph County.

Greensboro - Cone Health is now the exclusive health care partner of the City of Asheboro’s ZooCity Sportsplex. As part of a 25-year deal, worth $5 million, the ZooCity Sportsplex has been renamed Cone Health ZooCity Sportsplex. The brand-new multi-purpose sports park at 2981 Zoo Parkway sits on more than 80 picturesque acres and is three miles from the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro. Aeriel view of sports complex

Cone Health sees this sponsorship as a visual reminder of its commitment to value-based care and the importance of prevention when it comes to health and wellness. “Developing a love of sports and exercise yields lifelong dividends for a person’s health,” says Cone Health President and CEO Dr. Mary Jo Cagle. “It just makes sense that Cone Health should be right there with you literally every step of the way.”

Signage with Cone Health’s logo was unveiled at the sportsplex during the facility’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting held on May 4, 2024. The Cone Health logo will also be included on the Cone Health ZooCity Sportsplex website.

The Cone Health ZooCity Sportsplex has eight playing fields that can be used for soccer, football and lacrosse. The complex also includes beach volleyball and pickleball courts. Visitors can find expanded opportunities for outdoor recreation via an inclusive and accessible playground, fitness court and walking paths.

City of Asheboro Mayor David H. Smith, in announcing the partnership, extended the city’s appreciation to Cone Health for joining the city to promote health and athletics in Randolph County: “The City of Asheboro is looking forward to beginning a long-term relationship with Cone Health that will support youth and adult sports for years to come.”

The Cone Health ZooCity Sportsplex is open to the public seven days a week.
