Family Medicine Residency: Overview
The Cone Health Family Medicine Residency offers full-spectrum training to ensure our graduates can pursue any path available within the family medicine array of care. The residency is associated with Moses Cone Hospital, which is part of the community-based Cone Health System. The residency is affiliated with the University of North Carolina (UNC) where our faculty maintain academic appointments. This combination of academic affiliation and a community-based hospital system offers a unique learning environment where emphasis remains focused on the training and education of our residents. Medical students and other learners rotate within the hospital system and residency, offering our residents opportunities to participate in teaching.
The Family Medicine Center located in Greensboro is the outpatient practice where our residents provide continuity care. This clinic serves a diverse population of patients, allowing resident exposure to multiple facets of outpatient medicine. Our clinic is proud to care for the medically underserved as well as other under-represented minorities including immigrants, refugees and members of the LGBTQ community
Our graduates are prepared to engage in any type of family medicine career opportunity including general outpatient practice, hospitalist work, academic medicine, fellowship training, international health, suburban, urban or rural practice. We seek residents who are committed to caring for patients while achieving excellence in personal growth during their training.
