PGY 1 Cone Health - Moses Cone Hospital

Our PGY1 pharmacy residency program is intended to give residents experiences across the health system, including in ambulatory, inpatient, and community pharmacy settings. Learning opportunities are also available in non-traditional rotations, including in leadership and management, employee health, and managed care. Experiences in population health and value-based care will position graduates to practice at the forefront of ambulatory healthcare transformation.

Our residents will work closely with the program director to develop a rotation schedule individualized to the residents’ interests and career goals.

• Longitudinal Primary Care 1 & 2

Inpatient: (choose 1-2)

• Inpatient Internal Medicine
• Inpatient Heart Failure Stewardship

Specialty/Disease-Focused Ambulatory: (choose 3-4)

• Advanced Heart Failure Clinic
• Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology
• Ambulatory Infectious Disease Clinic
• Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Clinic
• Deep Vein Thrombosis Clinic
• Pulmonology and Rheumatology
• Women’s Health

Population Health Management: (choose 1-2)

• Employee Health Plan Management
• Managed Care

Longitudinal Experiences:

• Medication use evaluation
• Research
• Community service
• Evidence-based medicine curriculum
• Ambulatory and community pharmacy service commitment
• Teaching and learning certificate (optional)

Rotations take place at several clinics within the Cone Health network area (Alamance, Guilford, Forsyth, Rockingham, and Randolph counties). Cone Health mileage reimbursement policy may apply.
