Autism Spectrum Evaluation
You’re looking for autism answers. We’re equipped to help you find them.
For a parent or individual dealing with the potential of an autism spectrum diagnosis, the “what’s next?” question looms large. As you plan for an autism spectrum evaluation, look to LeBauer Behavioral Medicine at Walter Reed Drive in Greensboro for experienced and compassionate experts to help you navigate the process with confidence.
The truth is, who you choose to conduct your autism spectrum evaluation matters. We will provide you with accurate, trustworthy evaluation results and a clear path forward.
Who We Evaluate
We offer evaluations for anyone over the age of 18 months, including adults.
If you are seeing signs in your young child, please do not wait to schedule an evaluation. The earlier children on the autism spectrum are diagnosed, the sooner interventions can begin and the better the long-term outcomes are shown to be.
Our Autism Evaluation Process
Per the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control (2020), 1 in 36 children will receive an autism spectrum diagnosis in their lifetime. If your family is navigating this potential reality, know that you are not alone.
We perform the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), which is the gold standard for an autism spectrum diagnosis. However, though the ADOS is a relatively straightforward test to administer, nuance and experience come into play in the interpretation of its results.
That’s where our providers truly shine. Their vast experience in this process means each patient receives the most accurate diagnosis possible.
Our testing includes
- Detailed developmental history
- Cognitive testing
- ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule)
- Measure of adaptive functioning (can be interview or questionnaire)
- Battery of questionnaires:
- For a caregiver AND at least one person who sees the individual outside the home
- Broadband screening measures
- ASD screeners
After The Evaluation
Following a diagnosis, our providers will work with you/your family to ensure you know about the various care options available to you. We will act as a conduit to help you get started on the path you choose, ensuring you feel supported along the way.
Our best-in-class evaluation process also sets you up for success when it comes to getting insurance approval for supportive services, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy, after a diagnosis is made.
