Surgery Services

Cone Health is the leading provider of surgery services for Alamance, Guilford and Rockingham counties and our surrounding communities. Using the latest medical technology, more than 32,000 general and specialized surgeries are performed at our surgery centers every year.

In cooperation with more than 100 area physicians, inpatient and outpatient procedures are performed at Alamance Regional Medical Center, The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital and Annie Penn Hospital and our two free-standing surgery centers.

Inpatient Surgery Services

Alamance Regional Medical Center, Moses Cone Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital and Annie Penn Hospital all offer the latest inpatient procedures, the most advanced practices and state-of-the-art medical equipment. Our exceptional physicians, nursing staff and teams of trained professionals provide a healing and comfortable environment for all our patients.

When conditions allow, we offer our patients minimally invasive options for spine, heart, thoracic and other surgeries. Also, we offer laparoscopic techniques, robot-assisted surgeries and stealth-guided neurosurgery. Such procedures reduce patient recovery time, minimize or eliminate time in the hospital and decrease the chance of complications such as infection.

Outpatient Surgery Services (Day Surgery)

We offer outpatient surgery at short stay surgery centers located at Moses Cone Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, Women’s Hospital and Annie Penn Hospital.

For surgeries requiring minimal recovery time, we offer three free-standing surgery centers adjacent to Moses Cone Hospital and Wesley Long Hospital and at Medcenter Mebane. These locations are equipped for general and specialized procedures including: orthopedic, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), pediatric, dental and cosmetic surgery. While most procedures performed at our centers are day surgeries, if an overnight stay is required, we provide private recovery care center suites. Modeled after a bedroom, each of our suites is equipped with all of the comforts of home.

Physicians work directly with patients to determine the optimal location and schedule for every procedure.
