The Save Plan

The Save Plan, a High Deductible Health Plan, is administered by Aetna. This lower premium plan can be paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA)*, which allows you to save pretax dollars for healthcare expenses. There are three tiers of coverage. What you pay depends on where you receive your care.

Tier 1: Cone Health or Triad HealthCare Network (THN) providers - lowest out-of-pocket cost (20% coinsurance).

Tier 2: Aetna Whole Health – Duke/WakeMed Network - slightly higher member responsibility while maintaining the same overall out-of-pocket maximum (30% coinsurance)

Tier 3: Aetna National Network – highest out-of-pocket maximum (50% coinsurance)

    Medical Plan Decision Considerations

    • Large nationwide network of healthcare providers; good particularly if you live out of the local area or have children who go to school or live out of state.
    • Less premiums from your paycheck.
    • Deductible must be met before the plan pays.
    • Cone Health contributes to your HSA (contingent upon base annual salary)*
    • Lower costs for services at a Cone Health or THN physician or Cone Health facility.
    • No cost for e-Visits and Virtual Visits (video/phone). NOTE: A video visit with your personal physician is considered an office visit.
    • Easy Steps to Keep Your Premiums Low for 2025.
