Angela Riccio, DO
Class of 2020
What are you up to now?
After graduating residency I moved to the mountains in rural western North Carolina to join a hospital-owned outpatient practice.
What did you like about our residency program?
I had planned to work as a family physician in rural North Carolina, and during my residency search it was important to me to find a program that would prepare me for this. Cone had strong inpatient and outpatient experiences as well as plenty of pediatric training.
In what ways did our program prepare you for life after residency?
The patient population was definitely challenging, but allowed me to grow my skills working with medically complex patients. There were ample opportunities to do procedures during clinic, and it was easy for me to tailor my electives to areas I had interest in or wanted more exposure to. Overall I feel very well prepared to practice rurally thanks to my training at Cone.
